Kashmir Poems

  1. for I am you
    and you within me
    in essence like scent
    within the flower
    the running water
    within the river
    the air within the atmosphere
    the song that echoes
    from within the nightingale
    or seasons which entail
    one after the other
    wrapped over together
    autumn spring and summer
and through the crevices of the doors
sneak in the gray white winters
    and you then from within
in such way again and again
    seem to disappear
    far but yet
    so near
as if you are within me
    for I am you
  1. what is night but a few hours
embrace it for it too will pass

in loneliness you are not alone
for around the corner is dawn

the morning with all its chaos
music with a moment’s pause

life simmers inside the teapot
fill up the cup the burning hot

suck it up sipping it like its life
transcending an energy so rife

and you in an amazing moment
smile in celebration of the heart

deep there you let memory play
illuminated like that moon in sky

calm and serene again the night
you may be far but yet not apart

day will dawn and so the morning
so celebrate the night in passing

sleep come be mine for the night
one more sip of hot tea that’s right

snuggled inside the warmth of bed
hear the buzz of a lullaby my friend

a momentous quiver of sudden joy
a world of magic an illusive ploy

spread out the glitter of the stars
let us travel to the far away mars

for all of you and you in particular
let us pass the night floating in air

what is night but a few hours
embrace it for it too will pass
